Kim Arata, MA CCC-SLP, joined the Communication Disorders faculty in 2018. Arata's graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology was earned at Ball State University. From 2011 to 2018 she worked as a speech-language pathologist for Nevada and North Carolina public schools providing services to students with complex communication needs.

Kim Arata is continuing coursework to earn her Clinical Doctorate in Speech Pathology from Loma Linda University.
In April 2022, Kim Arata presented the topic, “The Role of Spirituality in Holistic Care: A Call to Action for Speech-Language Pathology” at the Pennsylvania Speech Language Hearing Association Annual Convention.
During the 2023 academic year, Kim Arata and Susan Layton oversaw the work of junior and senior students who provided over 60 hours of free speech-language therapy to individuals in the community.
